AGRAVIC – A State of Zero Gravity.

update date : 2024-06-19

The 2024 graduation exhibition of the Department of Industrial Design is themed "AGRAVIC – A State of Zero Gravity." From rough prototypes and external changes to gradual stability and smoothness, this process reflects each designer's journey toward maturity. Unknown territories, adaptive flexibility, and imaginative creativity are explored. Design, much like finding oneself in a state of zero gravity, is sculpted through the forces of practice and adaptation, unveiling new possibilities. In this realm, gravity does not apply; abilities and experiences guide us in a zero-gravity space: "Big lift, No Drop."

With this concept, we break free from conventional thinking, combining human ideals, contemporary issues, and technological advancements to explore new possibilities. Beyond presenting a fusion of the future and design, the exhibition focuses on influencing lifestyles and inspiring a collective commitment to sustainable development goals (SDGs). Through the concept of zero gravity, we aim to encourage visitors to transcend modern thinking and witness designs that address contemporary issues more authentically. We envision "AGRAVIC" not just as a product design theme, but as a commitment to a sustainable future and a practical contribution to the core values of the SDGs. This perspective ensures that these core values remain ever-present and undroppable, creating a better future in the real world.

This graduation exhibition emphasizes hands-on practical skills, with problem-oriented design as its guiding principle. Through a year-long professional internship system, students gain a thorough understanding of the real issues and needs of the design industry. The exhibited works are centered on sustainable development, with more than half of the product designs focusing on analyzing and developing products based on the 17 SDG indicators. This process allows students to understand future design trends and contemporary issues while conveying the importance of sustainable development to visitors, reinforcing the notion that everyone has an irrefutable responsibility. This reflects the ultimate goal of the department's educational philosophy, "Design the real world."
