MCUT Hosts Health Lecture on Healthy Diet and Dementia Prevention
To care for the physical and mental well-being of faculty and staff and to enhance health promotion awareness, Ming Chi University of Technology organized a health lecture titled “Eat Safely, Live Healthily.” The lecture invited Nurse Tan Dun-Ci from the Toxicology Department of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital as the keynote speaker to share important topics including food safety, healthy diet, and dementia prevention.
During the lecture, Nurse Tan explained daily dietary habits, food selection, and the impact of environmental safety on health in a clear, engaging, and lively manner, drawing on her extensive clinical experience and real-life examples. The session was conducted in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, and the rich and practical content allowed participants to gain valuable insights.
Nurse Tan particularly reminded the audience that although dementia cannot currently be completely cured, early observation and the establishment of a healthy lifestyle can effectively reduce risk and delay disease progression. Regular exercise, maintaining social engagement, managing chronic diseases properly, and ensuring good sleep quality are all important strategies for dementia prevention. In addition, practicing good health management in daily life is key to maintaining overall physical and mental well-being.
The lecture also emphasized that only by addressing food selection, dietary habits, environmental safety, and healthy lifestyle practices together can the risk of health issues and dementia be truly reduced, thereby improving quality of life. Health is not a short-term action but the result of long-term accumulation. It should begin with simple principles such as “less additives, more whole foods,” “balanced diet and regular routines,” and “moderate exercise with a positive mindset,” gradually building a sustainable healthy lifestyle.
MCUT stated that the university has always valued the health and workplace well-being of its faculty and staff. It hopes that through this lecture, participants can apply the health knowledge learned into their daily lives and families, jointly creating a safe, healthy, and happy living environment, and practicing the concept of “Eat Safely, Live Healthily.”
