Ming Chi University of Technology, in collaboration with Nanya Technology, is hosting the “2025 Taishan Heavenly Blessings Drum Charity Temple Square Concert.”
Co-hosted by Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) and Nanya Technology Corporation, the “2025 Taishan Heavenly Blessings Drum Charity Temple Square Concert” was grandly held on October 25 at the historic site Ding Taishan Temple, a designated heritage landmark in New Taipei City.
With the theme “Drumming for Heritage, Weaving for Goodness”, the event combined traditional drum performances, bamboo-weaving art, and a charity sale. Multiple local performance groups gathered to celebrate the birthday of Xianying Patriarch, creating a festive atmosphere filled with powerful drumbeats and acts of compassion. Through emotional drum performances, bamboo-weaving charity sales, and community engagement, MCUT demonstrated its long-term dedication to local development and the fulfillment of its University Social Responsibility (USR).
The event opened with a magnificent performance of Taiping drums, waist drums, and gongs and cymbals by the Ding Taishan Temple Drum Troupe, igniting the venue with dynamic rhythms. Following performances by the Micang Elementary School Drum Team, Feng Drum Arts, WuJi Line Arts, and the MCUT Drum Culture Club showcased the harmonious blend of tradition and innovation in drum culture. The vibrant beats energized the audience and filled the temple courtyard with youthful vitality.
A bamboo-weaving charity sale was also held on-site, featuring handcrafted works created jointly by MCUT students, Nanya Technology employees, and Taishan’s bamboo-weaving seed instructors. These exquisite pieces combined traditional craftsmanship with modern design, attracting strong public support. All proceeds from the charity sale will be donated to support local elderly residents living alone, transforming cultural creativity into a force of warmth and care.
MCUT President Liu Thu-Hua noted in his remarks that MCUT has long collaborated with Huang Xin-Yu, Chairperson of the ZN Innovation Association, to promote bamboo-weaving arts. Incorporating the “intergenerational learning” model, faculty and students actively engage with the community, using bamboo art to convey care and give back to society. He emphasized that this event is not only an artistic celebration but also a concrete expression of the university’s commitment to USR, embodying the educational philosophy of “rooting education in the community and connecting culture with local life.”
Lee Chiu-Yi, Chairperson of Ding Taishan Temple, remarked that since its founding in 1754, the temple has remained a cultural and spiritual center for Taishan. He expressed gratitude to MCUT and Nanya Technology for their continuous support of local cultural development. Now in its fourth year, the Taishan Heavenly Blessings Drum Concert has revitalized the historic temple grounds and infused the local culture with artistic vigor.
Chang Ji-Zhu, Department Manager of Nanya Technology, stated that the company upholds the belief of “giving back to society” and has long focused on community engagement and social care, emphasizing talent cultivation, environmental conservation, and cultural development. Partnering with MCUT for this concert not only preserves local cultural memory but also transforms goodwill and art into a harmonious chapter of compassion in Taishan.
MCUT emphasized that it will continue strengthening cooperation with local communities and enterprises. Through the integration of arts, education, and public service, the university aims to bring its energy into the community and build a sustainable model of shared prosperity and mutual growth.
