To help students prepare for the mandatory year-long practical internship in their junior year, the Department of Business and Management at Ming Chi University of Technology invited Mr. Chen Hong-Ming, Section Chief of the Personnel Section, General Manager's Office, Formosa Plastics Corporation, to deliver a guest lecture during a joint Business Ethics course session for students from the Department of Business and Management and the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management. Under the theme “Setting Sail for Internship, Taking Off toward a Career,” Mr. Chen shared insights from corporate human resource practices and introduced students to workplace ethics, professional communication, and the qualities valued by employers.

Drawing on his experience in talent recruitment and development, Mr. Chen explained that workplace ethics goes beyond theories taught in textbooks. It is reflected in everyday professional behavior, including integrity, responsibility, teamwork, communication, and a positive attitude toward work. He encouraged students who are about to begin their internships to take initiative, remain open to learning, communicate effectively, and approach every assignment with responsibility. Through these practices, students can gradually strengthen their professional abilities and gain valuable workplace experience.

During the interactive session, students raised practical questions about adapting to corporate culture, communicating effectively during internships, and the qualities that employers value in interns. Mr. Chen responded to these questions from an industry perspective, helping students develop a clearer understanding of what to expect during their upcoming practical internships and how internship experiences can contribute to their future career development.

Practical internship is an important feature of talent development at Ming Chi University of Technology, while the Business Ethics course provides students with a foundation in professional ethics and appropriate workplace practices before they enter the corporate environment. The Department of Business and Management will continue to strengthen the connection between academic learning and industry practice through guest lectures by industry professionals, company visits, and industry-academia collaboration. Through these efforts, the Department aims to better prepare students for internships and future careers while cultivating management professionals equipped with professional knowledge, ethical awareness, and practical capabilities.
