Ming Chi University of Technology Advances to the 2026 InnoVEX Exhibition, Showcasing Its Innovative Technology Achievements with Brilliance

  Ming Chi University of Technology participated in the 2026 InnoVEX innovation exhibition through the T5-GIP research and industry collaboration platform, alongside National Taiwan University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Taiwan Normal University, Chang Gung University, and other institutions. This exhibition covered fields such as healthcare, long-term care, diagnostics, and pharmaceuticals.

  Ming Chi University of Technology showcased two key new technologies: the "Magnesium Alloy High-Gloss Coating Technology" developed by Associate Professor Shun-Yi Jian from the Department of Materials Engineering, and the "Indoor Cultural Tourism Exhibition Hall Positioning and Intelligent Navigation System" developed by Assistant Professor En-Cheng Liu from the Department of Electrical Engineering.

  Associate Professor Shun-Yi Jian's "Magnesium Alloy High-Gloss Coating Technology" enables a high-gloss metallic original color finish on magnesium alloys while providing excellent corrosion resistance. The process involves precision cutting of selected surface areas to expose the metal substrate for a mirror-like high-gloss effect, followed by the application of a transparent functional coating layer to enhance weather resistance and wear durability. This technology is suitable for premium products requiring extreme lightweighting and metallic luster, such as high-end laptops, camera bodies, and drone casings.

  Additionally, the "Indoor Cultural Tourism Exhibition Hall Positioning and Intelligent Navigation System" developed by Assistant Professor En-Cheng Liu's team integrates indoor positioning technology with large language models to create an intelligent navigation system. The system utilizes proximity sensing technology to automatically trigger detailed graphical and textual introductions based on spatial coordinates, eliminating the need for manual clicks. For areas with densely displayed exhibits, the system incorporates heading vector angle calculations to precisely determine the visitor's line of sight focus, effectively resolving information conflicts caused by overlapping coordinates.

  In addition to showcasing technological achievements, the team led by Associate Professor Shun-Yi Jian from the Department of Materials Engineering (Yi Jin Technology) stood out in the highly competitive 2026 Ministry of Economic Affairs "Research Institution Entrepreneurship Potential Award" (TREE Award). After nearly a hundred teams applied, followed by rigorous selection through group preliminary rounds (9 teams) and finals (3 teams), the team was awarded the TREE Award Special Prize on June 2 at the 2026 InnoVEX innovation exhibition area, receiving a prize of NT$300,000.

  This honor not only recognizes Ming Chi University of Technology's outstanding achievements in promoting the industrialization of research outcomes, but also highlights the strong R&D capabilities of Yi Jin Technology in metal surface treatment technologies.

  At this exhibition, Assistant Professor Yi-Ting Lai from the Department of Materials Engineering also showcased her project "Beyond Hearing: Digital Medical Assistive Device for Visualizing Sound," which won the 2026 Presidential Hackathon Award.
