update date : 2026-03-12

In addition to Chang's achieve KYMCO, founded in 1964, has more than 57 years of history and has grown alongside Taiwan's development and prosperity. The company strives to provide distinctive and outstanding products through advanced technology and innovative thinking, with the goal of realizing its brand philosophy of "Win My Heart." To meet users' needs and aspirations while continuously leading new lifestyle trends, KYMCO has organized the KYMCO Motorcycle Design Competition Cup (KDCC) since 2011. The competition provides a platform for young students to showcase their creativity, encourages exchange and broader perspectives, and helps cultivate outstanding transportation design talent in Taiwan.

The 14th KYMCO Design Competition Cup brought together remarkable works from students of industrial design and related departments across universities and colleges. Each proposal represented a new generation's fresh imagination and interpretation of the future of motorcycles. According to the organizers, the competition is not only a showcase of design achievements but also a platform for exchanging ideas on creativity, critical thinking, and practical implementation. From concept development and problem definition to design proposals, participating teams presented their ideas through clear presentations and visual displays, sharing their observations and responses to various issues while demonstrating how design can connect with real needs and respond to industrial and social challenges.

Among the award-winning works, the project "Serenity" by a team from the Department of Industrial Design at Ming Chi University of Technology received the Merit Award. The project was supervised by Professor Chun-Ming Yang, Chair of the Department. The designer, student Yu-Ting Lin, explained that the work addresses the issue of digital fatigue among the younger generation by adopting "quiet riding" as its core design concept. Through a subtractive design approach, technology becomes an invisible assistant. The motorcycle features sporty proportions and lightweight lines that convey a sense of speed while also providing a feeling of protective enclosure. Instead of complex screen-based user interfaces, the design incorporates tactile feedback and subtle information cues that gently remind the rider at critical moments, allowing them to focus on enjoying the pure riding experience. Lin expressed great happiness at receiving the award and stated that she will continue striving to improve her skills in the field of transportation design.
