Library Holds “Library Resource Utilization Education” Session to Strengthen Students’ Research Skills
The Library continues to promote the Library Resource Utilization Education program in the new semester, providing instruction to both undergraduate and graduate students. The program is delivered directly in classrooms by library staff and aims to help students understand library resources and develop research abilities.
This session was scheduled with the assistance of the course instructor, and the participants were first-year students in the undergraduate international program. Teaching materials were prepared by the Library, covering an introduction to library services and spaces, research resource search methods, demonstrations of commonly used databases (including ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and NDLTD), as well as key search strategies such as Boolean logic and field searching. The session also included guidelines for using AI tools in academic writing, emphasizing information verification and academic integrity.
Through practical demonstrations and hands-on activities, students gained familiarity with campus research resources and improved their ability to search for and evaluate information. The Library noted that this program remains open for reservation by any class. Teachers may request instruction in Chinese or English, depending on student needs, to support students in building a solid foundation for academic research.
