Green Digital × Green Sustainability × Green Innovation Achievement Competition, Advancing Economic Sustainability in Digital Art Through Fair Trade
Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) New Taipei Industry ESG Practices:Greener and Better recently hosted the “Green Digital × Green Sustainability × Green Innovation Achievement Competition” as part of its University Social Responsibility (USR) Deep Cultivation Program. The event highlighted how design education can merge with social responsibility, drawing over 60 participants from industry, faculty, and students. The competition integrated digital art courses with themes of economic sustainability, particularly fair trade. Student projects explored data visualization, generative art, and interactive art, while addressing how digital creativity can meet social needs.
Highlights included “Red Beans Grow in the South,” which used AR and holographic projection to showcase local agriculture and fair trade; “Moo-ry Moo-ry,” which immersed audiences in the milk production chain to reflect on inequities and consumer choices; and “Busy Bee,” which engaged participants in interactive storytelling on fair trade.
Students reflected that the process, though demanding, brought a sense of accomplishment and valuable learning. More importantly, the competition demonstrated how design can inspire fair trade, sustainability, and social impact—embodying the mission of USR to nurture professionals with creativity, competence, and social responsibility.
