" From International Cultures in Schools to Global Visions in Communities": MCU and Wende Elementary School Co-Host Vietnamese and Filipino Cultural Exhibition

update date : 2025-07-29

To promote cross-cultural exchange and foster global perspectives among elementary school students in New Taipei City, Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT), under the initiative of its Office of International Affairs, launched the “International Cultural Exchange and English Literacy Enhancement Program in New Taipei Communities.” As part of this program, a week-long cultural exhibition highlighting Vietnam and the Philippines was held from June 23 to June 27 at Wende Elementary School in Banqiao District.

The exhibition was co-curated and presented by international students from Vietnam and the Philippines currently studying at MCUT. It featured both static cultural displays and interactive sharing sessions, creating an immersive learning environment in which students could engage with foreign cultures as part of their everyday school life. The International and Cultural Education Center at Wende Elementary showcased various cultural artifacts from Vietnam and the Philippines, introducing local geography, customs, and everyday life practices.

In addition to the static displays, two interactive cultural sessions were organized during the week. MCUT international students served as presenters, sharing their homeland’s festivals, cuisine, traditional clothing, languages, and education systems. Each session lasted two class periods and featured real-time interpretation provided by staff members of the USR (University Social Responsibility) program to facilitate communication. The sessions encouraged elementary students to actively participate through games, quizzes, and Q&A activities, combining educational content with engaging formats.

Throughout the event, the MCUT USR project team provided full administrative and on-site support, working closely with Wende Elementary School’s International and Cultural Education Center to ensure smooth coordination. Representatives from the International and Cultural Education Section of the New Taipei City Education Department also visited the event and offered high praise, stating that the program not only enriched international education resources on campus but also provided students with firsthand cultural experiences from Southeast Asia.

Through this "Home Country Cultural Exhibition," MCUT has further strengthened its collaborative USR partnership with local elementary schools while offering international students a valuable platform to showcase their cultures. This event successfully embodied the program’s vision of “bringing culture into campus and the world into the community.” MCUT’s Office of International Affairs will continue to promote intercultural programs aimed at nurturing globally competent young talents.
