On May 7, 2025, a delegation from Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Indonesia, led by Rector Prof. Dr. Hariyono and five distinguished guests, visited Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) for an official visit. The primary aim of this visit was to enhance mutual exchanges and explore potential collaborations in teaching, research, and student exchange programs.
The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Chieh-Lan Li, Dean, Office of International Affairs, who guided them through the university’s history gallery, introducing MCUT’s founding principles, educational philosophy, and institutional development, providing the guests with a comprehensive and insightful understanding of the university.
Following the campus tour, the delegation visited the Department of Mechanical Engineering, where Dr. Chil-Chyuan Kuo, Chair, presented the department’s key areas of development and educational resources.
Next, the guests toured the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management. Dr. Kung-Jui Pai, Chair, along with Dr. Kuen-Tai Chen, introduced the Advanced Intelligence Real-time Factory, AIR-Factory. The discussion highlighted a shared interest in enhancing students’ practical abilities and global competitiveness.
The delegation then proceeded to the Department of Visual Communication Design, where Dr. Hui-Yueh Hsieh explained how the department integrates digital media, creative thinking, and cultural and creative industries into its curriculum and international collaborations. Student works were also showcased, impressing the visitors and demonstrating the strong potential of interdisciplinary integration between design and technology.
During lunch, Dr. Fong-Rey Liu, Provost, and Dr. Chieh-Lan Li engaged in lively discussions with the guests. The topics included potential collaborations in dual degree programs, short-term courses, and joint graduate supervision. During the luncheon, Dr. Jau-Rong Chen, Director of the International Master of Business Administration (IMBA) program, introduced the program’s key features, target students, and past international student participation, which garnered great interest from the UM delegation.
This visit by Universitas Negeri Malang not only deepened the mutual understanding of educational philosophies and institutional development between the two universities but also laid a solid foundation for future multifaceted collaborations. It showcased MCUT’s commitment and achievements in advancing internationalization.
