1st International Conference on Advanced Materials for Sustainable Development Goals (AMSDG 2026) Concludes Successfully: MCUT Joins Global Scholars to Shape a Sustainable Materials Future
1st International Conference on Advanced Materials for Sustainable Development Goals (AMSDG 2026), organized by the Center for Plasma and Thin Film Technologies and the Department of Materials Engineering at Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT), was successfully held from June 24 to 26, 2026, at the Innovation Building of MCUT. Centered on the theme "Advanced Materials for Sustainable Development Goals," the conference focused on advanced materials, surface engineering, thin-film technologies, energy materials, plasma technologies, and green sustainable development. The event attracted 287 participants from 12 countries, including Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, USA, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Mongolia, Hong Kong, and Mexico. Scholars, researchers, and students gathered to exchange the latest research findings and explore future trends in advanced materials for sustainable development.
The conference featured 243 technical papers, together with 4 Plenary Speeches, 7 Keynote Speeches, and 31 Invited Speeches delivered by distinguished experts from leading universities and research institutions in the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The presentations covered a broad range of cutting-edge topics, including high-entropy materials, functional thin films, energy conversion, hydrogen technologies, optoelectronic devices, plasma engineering, and semiconductor materials, highlighting the latest advances in materials science and sustainable technologies.
To encourage the participation of young researchers in international academic exchange, the conference also hosted the Student Oral Competition and Poster Competition, providing students with valuable opportunities to present their research in English, interact with international experts, and enhance their presentation skills and global perspectives. In addition, nine domestic and international companies participated in the exhibition, showcasing advanced materials, coating equipment, analytical instruments, and related technologies, thereby promoting industry–academia collaboration and facilitating the translation of research achievements into practical applications.
A highlight of AMSDG 2026 was its collaboration with the internationally renowned SCI journal Surface and Coatings Technology to organize a Special Issue, encouraging participants to further develop and publish their conference research in a high-impact international journal. Through this international conference, MCUT successfully established a high-quality platform for global academic exchange, strengthened collaborations with international universities, research institutions, and industry partners, and demonstrated its research excellence in advanced materials, surface engineering, and sustainable technologies. The conference further enhanced the international visibility of MCUT while contributing to Taiwan's global competitiveness in materials science and engineering.
