update date : 2026-06-01

The Ministry of Education’s “2026 National Technical and Vocational College Student Practical Project Competition and Exhibition” successfully concluded on May 15. This year, a total of 1,167 projects from institutions nationwide participated in the competition. Following the review process conducted by the judging committee, 137 projects were shortlisted, and ultimately 64 outstanding projects were selected. Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) has consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in this competition over the years. Through the joint efforts of participating faculty and students this year, MCUT earned one first prize, two second prizes, one third prize, and one honorable mention. The university ranked second nationwide in the number of awarded projects, while its awards per capita performance ranked first nationwide, fully demonstrating the exceptional capabilities of MCUT students in research and development innovation, interdisciplinary integration, and practical application.

Among the award-winning projects, the Department of Mechanical Engineering received third place in the Mechanical and Power Machinery Category with the project titled “A Fully Automated Vertical Probe Multi-Fixture Pick-and-Place Arrangement Device Based on Image Analysis.” The project integrates image recognition, automated feeding, and precision control technologies to develop an intelligent probe pick-and-place system applicable to semiconductor manufacturing processes, thereby improving manufacturing efficiency. The Department of Materials Engineering earned second place in the Energy and Environmental Protection Category with the project “Noise Reduction and Energy Recycling Through the Integration of Acoustic Metamaterials and Triboelectric Nanogenerators,” successfully combining noise reduction and energy harvesting technologies to provide new directions for low-carbon energy conservation and smart energy applications. Meanwhile, the Department of Safety Health and Environmental Engineering received an honorable mention in the Energy and Environmental Protection Category for the project “Treating Waste with Waste – Converting Waste Pads from Chemical Mechanical Polishing of Chips into High-Efficiency Carbon Materials for Removing Perfluorinated Compounds in Wastewater.” The project enhances pollution control efficiency through waste reutilization and proposes an innovative solution that incorporates concepts of circular economy and sustainable manufacturing processes.

In the fields of design and humanities innovation, MCUT’s Department of Industrial Design won first place in the Industrial Design Category with the project “RE:PAW,” which focuses on the postoperative rehabilitation needs of dogs. The project designed an exoskeleton rehabilitation system balancing safety and comfort, reducing the risk of secondary injuries while enhancing the feasibility of home care. The Department of Visual Communication Design received second place in the Product Design Category with the project “Taiwan Terrazzo Tales: Image Reconstruction and Product Design of Terrazzo,” reinterpreting Taiwan’s terrazzo culture and extending local architectural memories and cultural values through a series of product designs.

It is worth noting that MCUT’s award-winning projects span diverse fields including intelligent manufacturing, materials innovation, environmental sustainability, medical assistive device design, and cultural creativity, fully demonstrating students’ strong foundations in technological research and development, interdisciplinary integration, and innovative practice. These achievements not only reflect students’ solid professional competencies and practical problem-solving abilities but also highlight the substantial outcomes of the university’s long-term commitment to industry-academia collaboration, practice-oriented education, and interdisciplinary talent cultivation. The university has successfully transformed classroom learning into competition projects with innovation, applicability, and social value, embodying the core spirit of technological and vocational education—learning through practical application.
