Ming Chi University of Technology Holds Lunar New Year Charity Sale, Spreading Warmth Through Calligraphy to Care for Local Seniors

update date : 2026-04-13

To celebrate the Lunar New Year and promote public welfare and community care, the Center for General Education at Ming Chi University of Technology organized the “2026 Lunar New Year Charity Sale: Happiness Plus Gamma” event. Guided by the core spirit of University Social Responsibility (USR), the event integrated local culture, intergenerational learning, and social care. It invited members of the Taishan Arts and Culture Association of New Taipei City, along with instructors and students from the Applied Chemistry Senior Calligraphy Class, to participate in live calligraphy writing, creating a variety of auspicious Spring Festival couplets. The venue was filled with the rich fragrance of ink and a strong festive atmosphere, attracting enthusiastic participation from faculty and students. While selecting couplets, participants also transformed their blessings into tangible actions, demonstrating the university’s commitment to connecting with society and responding to local needs.

Centered on the theme “Cultural Heritage × Public Welfare Practice,” the event raised funds through a charity sale. It not only deepened students’ understanding of traditional calligraphy but also encouraged them to engage with issues related to an aging society, fostering empathy and a sense of social responsibility. A total of NT$12,864 was raised and fully donated to the Taishan Angel Station of the Huashan Social Welfare Foundation to support services for elderly individuals living alone in the community, thereby putting into practice the core USR value of local care.

Through this event, Ming Chi University of Technology created a platform for intergenerational learning and cultural exchange, strengthened its connection with the local community, and addressed the practical needs of an aging society. It highlighted the important role of universities as practitioners of social responsibility. Moving forward, the university will continue to promote diverse initiatives that integrate curriculum with real-world engagement, enhance students’ capacity for public participation, and contribute to sustainable local development. The event concluded successfully in a warm and festive atmosphere, allowing love and blessings to continue flowing through the winter, adding deeper humanistic care and social significance to the upcoming Lunar New Year.
