Cultivating Practical AI Skills: Ming Chi University of Technology Partners with Industry to Deepen Campus AI Application Learning
In response to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), Ming Chi University of Technology is actively advancing campus digital transformation by strengthening AI literacy and practical application capabilities among faculty and students. Coordinated by the Computer Center, the university has partnered with Gjun Information Co., Ltd. to introduce a series of online AI application courses. These courses guide participants from understanding the fundamental principles of AI tools to hands-on implementation, comprehensively enhancing teaching, research, and administrative efficiency while fostering a learning environment equipped with practical AI capabilities.
The courses offered include “Mastering NotebookLM and Napkin AI in One Go” and “Mastering ChatGPT and Azure OpenAI: Unlocking Practical AI Application Development.” The curriculum balances foundational concepts with practical applications. Enrollment was limited to 33 participants per course, and all slots were quickly filled after registration opened, reflecting the strong interest and urgent demand for AI learning among faculty and students.
The course “Mastering NotebookLM and Napkin AI in One Go” focuses on practical applications of AI in learning, research, and presentation development. It begins with an introduction to the NotebookLM interface and guides participants in creating their first AI-powered notebook. Learners are then led step by step to organize key responses into structured notes and transform them into analyzable data sources. The course also utilizes mind mapping features to help participants structure research frameworks and thinking processes, thereby enhancing their ability to integrate and present information. Through hands-on practice, participants experience how AI can serve as an efficient assistant in both learning and work.
The second course, “Mastering ChatGPT and Azure OpenAI: Unlocking Practical AI Application Development,” starts with the fundamental concepts of natural language models, explaining the operating principles and core technologies behind ChatGPT, including key concepts such as word embeddings. This helps participants build a solid and accurate understanding of AI. At the advanced level, the course further introduces the use of the ChatGPT API and Azure AI Service, including model types and parameter settings, as well as application scenarios and cost considerations for image and speech models.
Through practice-oriented instruction, participants completed several generative AI application projects, such as automated translation, text-to-image generation, and AI applications integrated with LINE Bot. These hands-on experiences allowed learners to fully understand the end-to-end process of implementing AI technologies in real-world scenarios.
Ming Chi University of Technology stated that AI has become an essential competency for future learning and the workplace. The university will continue to collaborate with industry partners through its Computer Center to design more diverse and practice-oriented AI and digital learning initiatives. These efforts aim to help faculty and students stay up to date with emerging technology trends, cultivate interdisciplinary application and innovation capabilities, and inject continuous digital momentum into the campus, ultimately preparing professionals to meet future challenges.
