2026 Indigenous Student Orientation and Cultural Exchange Program:“Sharing Meals, Learning Together, and Engaging in Dialogue”

update date : 2026-03-27

The Indigenous Student Resource Center of Ming Chi University of Technology hosted the “Indigenous Student Orientation and Cultural Exchange Program: Sharing Meals, Learning Together, and Engaging in Dialogue” on February 9, 2026. As an important starting point for the new semester, the event supported Indigenous students in gaining a clear understanding of campus resources and support systems, while strengthening their connection to and sense of belonging within the Center.

Centered on food culture, the program incorporated shared meals and hands-on DIY experiences, guiding students to explore Indigenous knowledge and cultural values embedded in everyday life. This approach transformed cultural learning from passive reception into active participation. In addition, intergenerational sharing with alumni and the “Indigenous Empowerment Dialogue” created a safe and respectful space for students to openly discuss identity, cultural experiences, and personal growth, fostering emotional support and the transmission of lived experiences.

Overall, the program not only strengthened student support networks but also deepened the integration of culture into daily life and promoted cross-cultural understanding. It transformed the orientation from a routine administrative session into a meaningful platform connecting students, culture, and campus life, reflecting a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and Indigenous education.

Looking ahead, the Center will continue to actively promote Indigenous cultural programs, dedicating itself to the preservation and revitalization of Indigenous cultures. It aims to create a more supportive learning environment for Indigenous students and to empower future generations with broader opportunities for growth and development.
