2025 Student Career Counseling activities: Resume & Interview Preparation and Competency Development

update date : 2025-12-22

This year's student career guidance activities included a series focused on the transition from academia to the workplace (Academics-to-Workplace Transition Series). These events comprised: "Resume Workshop: Get Noticed by HR at a Glance," "All-Around Interview Prep: Winning at the Interview Starting Line," "Resume Designer: Individual Resume/Autobiography Consultations," and "Who is the Successor: Mock Interviews." The goal was to help students prepare for entering the job market.

The activities invited consultants: Mr. Yu-Chou Lin from 104 Resume Consulting served as the lecturer for the "Resume Workshop," and Mr. Yu-Feng Wang served as the consultant for the "Resume Designer: Individual Consultations." They helped students grasp the structure and key writing points for resumes and autobiographies, and provided specific improvement suggestions tailored to the jobs students intended to apply for.

In the "All-Around Interview Prep: Winning at the Interview Starting Line" lecture, Mr. Yu-Chou Lin provided students with guidance on preparation directions for the three phases of an interview (pre-, during, and post-interview), as well as common interview questions and answering techniques.

Finally, the "Who is the Successor: Mock Interviews" session invited a panel of mock interviewers: Senior Manager Jackie Huang from the FPG main management department, HR Senior Administrator Karen Lin from Nanya Technology Corporation, former HR Executive Yu-Chou Lin from Hon Hai Group, Consultant Yu-Ching Hsiao from Pasona Taiwan, Associate Professor Su-Pin Yu from the Department of Industrial Engineering And Management, and Associate Professor Ming-Te Shen from the General Education Center.

Through simulated interview scenarios, the students' expressive ability and stress resilience were trained, and their familiarity with the company's roles and their own professional capabilities was assessed, followed by adjustment and feedback suggestions.

To conclude the semester, Counseling Psychologist Shu-Chin Liu led the "Let’s Get Playful: Leather x Career Empowerment Workshop." This guided students to reflect on their personal career journeys, identify their potential and talents, and finally, engrave their career blessings onto a leather ID holder, creating a personal 'comfort object' to accompany them in successfully adapting to future workplace challenges.

A total of 167 students participated in the series of events, with an overall satisfaction rate reaching 97.66%.

Students reported that after attending the lectures, they learned how to prepare resumes and gained tips and directions for interviews. The resume consultations helped them see more personal highlights and made their autobiographies flow more smoothly. The mock interview part helped reduce anxiety and nervousness about their first job search, and the interviewers' guidance clarified areas for improvement.

Overall, students provided feedback that the Academics-to-Workplace Transition Series was very helpful for those who are looking for a job or have job-seeking needs in the future. The final hands-on empowerment activity provided appropriate stress relief related to their careers and boosted their confidence in future career development.
