update date : 2025-12-15

The Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (CAIDS) at Ming Chi University of Technology hosted the AIoT Application Technology Forum in conjunction with the 2025 International Conference on Smart Devices and Sustainable Energy (SDSE 2025) from October 13 to 17, 2025. The event gathered leading scholars from the National University of Singapore, De La Salle University (Philippines), Liverpool Hope University (UK), and the University of Arizona (USA), along with domestic industry experts, to explore cutting-edge topics in Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, smart healthcare, robotics, and sustainable energy—opening a new chapter for innovation and global collaboration in the AI era.

The first day featured visits to three major research centers at Ming Chi University of Technology: Smart Healthcare Center, Organic Electronics Research Center, and Green Energy Battery Research Center, showcasing the university’s achievements in AI, IoT, medical technology, flexible electronics, and renewable energy. In-depth discussions followed, focusing on collaborative opportunities in smart robotics and autonomous systems, as well as plans to integrate medical-assistive robots and intelligent care technologies for future international research partnerships.

On October 14, the official sessions commenced with a keynote by Prof. Marcelo H Ang Jr from NUS titled “Robotics in Unstructured and Human Environments”, addressing challenges and solutions for robots operating in complex environments. Prof. Yen-Chen Chen presented “AIoT Projects with AR and PID Control”, demonstrating innovative applications combining AIoT, augmented reality, and control systems. Prof. Szu-Han Chen introduced “AI Applications in Industry”, highlighting successful industrial AI projects. In the afternoon, Prof. Alvin Culaba from De La Salle University shared the Laguna Lake Sustainable Management Project, leveraging algae-based bioenergy and AI-driven digital twin models to promote ecological restoration and energy innovation. The day concluded with a networking dinner hosted by the university leadership.

On October 15, the forum featured advanced AI research and cross-domain applications. Topics included Sim-to-Real Dense Object Nets for Robotic Manipulation by Prof. Huang-Chiang Kao, Predictive Modeling and Optimization for Time-Series Data by Prof. Hung-Yi Liu, and Music Genre Classification Using Multi-Group Self-Attention by Prof. Chien-Hsing Lee. On October 16, international keynote speakers delivered impactful talks: Prof. Elmer Dadios on “AI and Robotics for Human Security”, Prof. Alvin Culaba on “AIoT-enabled Wearable Plant Sensor System” for smart agriculture, Prof. Raouf Naguib on “Issues in Human-AI Interaction in Healthcare Applications”, and Prof. Joel L Cuello on “Intelligent Solar Window Frame for Buildings on Earth, Moon, Mars and Beyond”, introducing groundbreaking solar energy solutions for sustainable architecture.

The event concluded with the SDSE award ceremony and closing remarks, reinforcing Ming Chi University of Technology’s commitment to global collaboration through programs such as the International Internship Pilot Program (IIPP) and the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP). This successful forum demonstrated the university’s leadership in AI-driven innovation and its dedication to advancing smart technologies and sustainable development worldwide.
