Interdisciplinary Practical Elite Program’s Classes Breaks New Records! Both enrollment and registration rates break records; green energy courses are comprehensively enhanced.

update date : 2025-12-12

The "Interdisciplinary Practical Elite Program" was initiated by the Ministry of Education in the 2016 academic year. Vocational colleges and universities that screen students for admission can use this project to plan for students to grow simultaneously in academic disciplines and technical abilities and further connect them to employment from the three aspects of "learning guidance", "advancing technology" and "employment connection". Supportive measures are also provided to encourage schools with a large number of recommended students to set up "Interdisciplinary Practical Elite Program’s Classes".

In response to this initiative, Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) launched two specialized programs in 2021, collectively known as the Elite Talent Advancement Program: "Bachelor Program in Energy and Battery Technology, College of Environment and Resources (formerly the Interdisciplinary Practical Elite Program (IPEP) belongs to College of Environment and Resources )" and "the Program in Digital Marketing Design’s Class". The students in these programs are distinguished for their skills, including achievements in international skills competitions, participation in international science fairs, and certifications above Level C technician qualifications. To further enhance students’ technical and professional competencies, the Digital Marketing and Design Practice Program introduced the TQC+ Photoshop CC certification training course. Since the program consists of students from both business and design backgrounds, design-related certifications can be more challenging for business students. Therefore, the university offered two weekend training sessions and two exam opportunities. The certification passing rate reached 73.44%, effectively strengthening students’ technical skills and employability.

This year, MCUT allowed students to register both by mail and in person. Those who visited campus also attended an orientation and senior student sharing session. The attendance rate reached 80.52%, surpassing expectations. During the event, the Dean of Academic Affairs encouraged new elite students, and the Associate Dean introduced the Honors Program and scholarship opportunities. The Registration Division and Student Affairs Division provided instructions regarding enrollment procedures, accommodation, and student loan applications. Program directors, advisors, and senior students also shared learning experiences, overseas study opportunities, and career development suggestions, helping freshmen better understand the curriculum and reducing withdrawal due to expectation gaps.

Notably, the registration rate of Elite Program students has steadily increased over the past three years (2023: 78.21%, 2024: 87.18%, 2025: 89.61%), showing that students’ willingness to enroll at MCUT continues to grow. To meet the changing demands of industry for cross-disciplinary digital marketing/design professionals and semiconductor technology talent, MCUT implemented systematic curriculum redesign, project-based learning, certification guidance, and incentive mechanisms in 2025. The Applied Environmental Practice Program was officially renamed the Energy and Battery Technology Program and incorporated into the Green Energy and Battery Technology Micro-Credential Program. The curriculum integrates materials, chemical engineering, occupational safety, and semiconductor-related courses to cultivate green energy and technology professionals capable of meeting industry needs and workplace expectations.
