Ming Chi University of Technology teams up with Nan Ya Plastics and FrontMaterials to establish Co-organized Research Centers and Trial Mass Production Factories, fostering new momentum in industry-academia R&D.
To promote the implementation of industrial technologies and accelerate the application and advancement of new innovations, Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) held an unveiling ceremony on October 14, 2025, for its Co-organization Research Centers and Trial Mass Production Factories, in collaboration with Mr. Yuan, Senior Manager of Nan Ya Plastics R&D Center, and Mr. Liao, Founder of FrontMaterials Co., Ltd.
Through this cross-disciplinary collaboration platform with industry partners, the university aims to provide an R&D environment conducive to technology validation and innovation realization, with a focus on areas such as materials science, trial production and clinical efficacy testing of leukocyte blood medical bags, and microwave depolymerization research on T/C blended fabric. The applications of these technologies will extend into smart healthcare, display technology, and perovskite solar cell power generation, contributing to the advancement of cutting-edge industries.
President Liu of MCUT remarked:“Our university has always placed great emphasis on research and industry-academia collaboration, striving to build an interdisciplinary innovation ecosystem. With strong support from the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education SPROUT Project, the establishment of this Co-organization Research Centers and Trial Mass Production Factories will create more hands-on learning opportunities for students. We look forward to this partnership effectively promoting the practical implementation of technologies and cultivating innovative talents urgently needed by the industry.”
Mr. Yuan, Senior Manager of Nan Ya Plastics Industry R&D Center, stated: This collaboration is an important milestone in industry–academia partnership. Through the joint establishment of a research center and pilot-scale production facility with Ming Chi University of Technology, we are able to accelerate medical device trial production and the implementation of new material technologies. This enables academic research outcomes to connect seamlessly with industrial production planning, further enhancing the industry’s competitiveness.”
Mr. Liao, FrontMaterials Co., Ltd, added: “We are honored to work with MCUT to promote the Trial Production Factories and shared resources. Our main focus is on the mass production and commercialization of perovskite solar cell technology, turning innovative results into market-ready products more rapidly. We hope that continued collaboration will nurture more outstanding talents and drive long-term industrial development.”
The establishment of this Co-Constructed Research Center not only provides a platform for academic research but also features a Pilot Production Factory equipped with advanced laboratories and facilities to support innovative R&D projects. MCUT and its industry partners hope that this collaborative model will create more opportunities for both academia and industry, integrate more comprehensive resources, and drive Taiwan’s development and breakthroughs in emerging technologies.
