MCUT Empowers Indigenous Youth for Global Engagement: Students Connect with 160 International Partners Through Cultural Diplomacy
Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) launched the “Indigenous Affairs Global Talent Empowerment Program” this summer to enhance global awareness and cultural diplomacy skills among Indigenous students. Through a series of lectures, workshops, and international exchanges, students were encouraged to explore global issues and transform their cultural identity into global strengths.
A highlight of the program was the return of MCUT alumni who are engaged in international career fields. They shared firsthand experiences working and studying abroad — from international NGOs to multinational corporations — inspiring current students with real examples of turning cultural heritage into global competitiveness.
Their message was clear:
Indigenous youth have the power not only to participate in the world but to make an impact on it.
The curriculum also included Austronesian cultural studies, global career navigation, cultural diplomacy, and hands-on resume and interview coaching. These experiences strengthened students’ confidence and communication skills, preparing them for future international engagement.
The co-organized “Dialogues with the World: International Indigenous Cultural Exchange Workshop” with the Council of Indigenous Peoples further enhanced cross-cultural collaboration. Students worked with youth from around the globe, discussing cultural preservation and international cooperation while forming sustainable global networks through collaborative proposals.
MCUT emphasized that Indigenous students possess unique language abilities and cultural perspectives that are highly valuable in the international arena. The university will continue to expand exchange platforms and alumni networks, empowering students to take action on the world stage as global changemakers.
Through this program, Indigenous youth proudly demonstrate:
“We are not only the keepers of culture — we are the ones who can shape the future of the world.”
