Delegation from Sungshin Women’s University Visits Ming Chi University of Technology to Sign MoU, Strengthening Collaboration in AI and Materials Science

update date : 2025-11-05

Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) continues to actively promote global engagement and inter-university collaboration. On September 23, 2025, the university had the great honor of welcoming a distinguished delegation from Sungshin Women’s University, Korea. The delegation was led by President Seong Keun Yi and included Professor Joon Young Kim and Professor Kyujoong Lee from the AI Convergence Program, Mr. Il Lee, Director of the Office of International Affairs Support, and Ms. Chunshi Zheng, Manager of Chinese International Exchange.

Upon their arrival, the delegation was warmly received by MCUT President Thu-Hua Liu. During the meeting, both sides engaged in an in-depth discussion on institutional development, the unique features of technical and vocational education, and potential areas of cooperation. President Liu noted that MCUT is guided by three key pillars—cross-disciplinary innovation, global connectivity, and academia-industry co-creation—and expressed his hope that this partnership would foster long-term collaboration between the two universities in artificial intelligence, materials science, and educational practice, further advancing international academic exchange and talent cultivation.

The highlight of the visit was the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony, during which Presidents Liu and Yi formally signed the cooperation agreement, marking the official establishment of an academic partnership between the two institutions. The ceremony concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts, symbolizing goodwill and commitment to deepening mutual cooperation.

Following the ceremony, Dr. Pauline Lin, Head of the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, delivered a presentation on the center’s research achievements and future directions in AI algorithms, smart manufacturing, and data analytics, demonstrating MCUT’s strong research capacity in cutting-edge technology. The delegation then visited the laboratories of the Department of Materials Engineering, guided by Dr. Yi-Ting Lai, where they were introduced to the university’s research strengths in advanced materials and precision processing.

The delegation also toured the School History Gallery, led by Dr. Chieh-Lan Li, Dean of the Office of International Affairs, to gain a deeper understanding of MCUT’s founding philosophy—“Sincerity leads to enlightenment; aspiration leads to achievement.” Through this historical and educational overview, the visitors gained a comprehensive understanding of MCUT’s educational vision and ongoing efforts toward internationalization.

During the luncheon, Provost Dr. Fong-Rey Liu and Dr. Yen-Jen Chen, Director of the AI Center, engaged in productive discussions with the Sungshin delegation regarding possible future collaborations, including faculty and student exchanges, joint research, short-term training programs, and potential dual-degree arrangements. Both sides expressed strong mutual interest and a shared commitment to advancing practical cooperation and fostering two-way academic and cultural exchange.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Organic Electronics Research Center, where Dr. Dian Luo, Associate Professor of the Department of Electronic Engineering, presented the center’s progress in emerging materials and green technology research, highlighting MCUT’s efforts in sustainable innovation and applied research.

This successful visit not only strengthened the friendship between Ming Chi University of Technology and Sungshin Women’s University but also laid a solid foundation for future collaboration in artificial intelligence, materials engineering, and international education, signifying MCUT’s continued advancement toward a broader global academic stage.
