[114-1 Beginning-of-Semester Indigenous Empowerment and Support Forum] Strengthening Cultural Identity, Enhancing Learning Support, and Building an Inclusive Campus
On September 11, 2025, the Indigenous Student Resource Center of Ming Chi University of Technology hosted the “Empowerment and Support Forum” to welcome Indigenous students at the beginning of the semester. The event focused on critical issues such as microaggressions and identity negotiation, and featured roundtable group discussions and cultural reflection. These discussions successfully fostered deep dialogue among students, who shared personal experiences and observations that enhanced their understanding and confidence in their own cultural identities. The forum also helped develop students' sensitivity and resilience in multicultural environments.
In addition, representatives from the New Taipei City Employment Service Center and the Western District Family Service Center were invited to present policy and welfare resources, offering practical guidance for students’ future careers and social engagement. The Indigenous Student Resource Center also introduced various on-campus support services, including scholarships, tuition waivers, and book subsidies, enabling students to better understand their rights and feel secure in their academic journey.
The event was met with enthusiastic participation. Both Indigenous and non-Indigenous attendees expressed that the forum was insightful and impactful. Cross-cultural dialogue helped foster greater mutual understanding and laid the foundation for a more inclusive and culturally respectful campus. Many students also expressed high interest and excitement about upcoming Indigenous cultural activities, demonstrating a strong commitment to ongoing learning and engagement.
This forum not only deepened cultural identity and awareness of available resources but also boosted students’ academic motivation and confidence in their future development. Looking ahead, we will continue promoting similar initiatives to support Indigenous students in their academic growth and cultural heritage, while building a learning environment rooted in diversity and shared success.
