MCUT Department of Industrial Design Graduation Exhibition "Designing a New Generation: Exploring the Future with Infinite Vision"

update date : 2025-06-02

This year, the graduating class of the Department of Industrial Design at Ming Chi University of Technology demonstrated outstanding performance in the “2025 Golden Pin Design Award for Young Designers” at the Young Designers’ Exhibition. A total of 72 projects were shortlisted, including 38 entries in the Special Award category and 34 in the Young Designers category. Additionally, four projects were selected for the "Industry-Academia Collaboration Competition." These achievements highlight not only the students' creativity and design capabilities but also the university’s excellence in cultivating future design talents. The shortlisted works span diverse design fields and showcase the graduates’ unlimited potential and passion as young designers—in creativity, functionality, and aesthetics.

The Golden Pin Design Award for Young Designers is co-guided by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Education, organized by the Industrial Development Bureau, and executed by the Taiwan Design Research Institute and the Taiwan Good Design Association. It is Taiwan's largest platform for design students to showcase their talents. Each year, thousands of submissions are reviewed to select the most outstanding works. This year, 4,862 entries from 122 departments across 59 universities were submitted, and 644 entries advanced to the final round. These finalists will compete for honors such as the “Best Design of the Year Award.” Final judging will take place on May 9 (Friday), the opening day of the Young Designers’ Exhibition, through in-person evaluation and presentations. The final award winners will be announced during the ceremony on May 11 (Sunday).

In parallel, Ming Chi University of Technology’s 58th annual internal graduation exhibition for the Department of Industrial Design—titled “Evolvion: Futureⁿ Vision”—was held starting April 18. The exhibition name blends the words “Evolution” and “Vision,” symbolizing how young designers explore the unknown with a future-oriented perspective, drive innovation, and continue growing. The symbol “ⁿ” represents boundless potential for exponential growth, while “Vision” embodies insight into the present, the future, and infinite possibilities.

The exhibition featured over 60 works covering industrial design, product design, and spatial design, illustrating how the new generation of designers responds creatively to societal issues and envisions new lifestyles for the future. Project categories included medical care, disaster relief, smart living, transportation, and sustainable design—showing how design can bring innovative solutions to society. The internal exhibition was held from April 18 to April 21 at the Innovation Building of Ming Chi University of Technology and will move to the Nangang Exhibition Center on May 9 to participate in Taiwan's largest design exhibition, the Young Designers’ Exhibition.

This year’s graduating class presented projects that not only excel in design but also embody the seamless integration of technology and real-life needs, earning various international awards. For example:

“Munin” is a modern reconnaissance drone designed for military applications. Its core design features a parametric structure, and its internal frame mimics hollow bird bones, effectively reducing weight and increasing sensitivity. This project won the New York Product Design Awards and the Golden Pin Design Award.
