Assist in the planning of Interdisciplinary Practical Elite Program and cultivate an appropriate school system for promoting talents.

update date : 2024-12-12

The "Interdisciplinary Practical Elite Program" was initiated by the Ministry of Education in the 2016 academic year. Vocational colleges and universities that screen students for admission can use this project to plan for students to grow simultaneously in academic disciplines and technical abilities and further connect them to employment from the three aspects of "learning guidance", "advancing technology" and "employment connection". Supportive measures are also provided to encourage schools with a large number of recommended students to set up " Interdisciplinary Practical Elite Program’s Classes".

In the light of this, Ming Chi University of Technology has actively implemented the program. Since the 2021 academic year, the university has established two specialized classes: "the Interdisciplinary Practical Elite Program (IPEP) belongs to College of Environment and Resources" and "the Program in Digital Marketing Design’s Class". The students in these classes are distinguished for their skills, including achievements in international skills competitions, participation in international science fairs, and certifications above Level C technician qualifications. To strengthen technical and vocational education, the Environmental Practice Class organized a professional seminar on battery energy concepts, encouraging students to develop a broader range of skills. The Marketing Design Class offered a TQC+ Photoshop CC certification guidance course, achieving a 77.42% certification pass rate, which enhances students’ competitiveness in the job market.

By the way, there was a significant increase in online applications for technical talent admission this year, with a 100% acceptance rate. Admitted students must complete their registration by the specified deadline. Therefore, admitted registration process not only through E-mail but also by attending in person at the university, students could also attend a Senior Student Sharing Session to help new students learn from their experiences, achieving an impressive 84.62% was better than our expected.

The 113th Technical Talent Registration and Orientation with Senior Student Sharing by the Provost, introduction to school resources by the Vice Provost (e.g., Honors Program, Remote Area Scholarships), Registry Division explanation of pre-enrollment reminders, accommodation regulations, and application process. Student Assistance Division application process for student loans. The Program in Digital Marketing Design Class convention that explanation of faculty and teaching resources by the department chair and teacher, and experience sharing on study away from home program in Japan by Senior Students.

Over the past three years, the registration rate for technical talent students has grown annually (2022: 76.92%, 2023: 78.21%, 2024: 87.18%). With rising student interest, there is an increasing need to create an adaptive learning environment. Given industry demands for interdisciplinary digital and semiconductor professionals, the university plans to expand the program in 2025. This includes a structured curriculum design, practical research projects, certification support, and a green energy battery technology credit program with four specialization tracks (materials, chemical engineering, safety and environment, and semiconductor). The aim is to align teaching with industry demands and produce skilled professionals ready to contribute effectively.
