The 113th Academic Year "Enhanced First Mile Foundation Program" Concludes Successfully, Laying the Foundation for Freshmen's Learning

update date : 2024-11-27

The "Enhanced First Mile Foundation Program" aims to strengthen students' foundational academic skills, address knowledge gaps, and prepare them for the new semester through a two-week pre-term course. To help freshman adapt to university life early and build confidence and achievement in their studies at technical colleges, the 113th academic year's "Enhanced First Mile Foundation Program" successfully concluded on August 30. The program was organized by the university's General Education Center and delivered online via the MS Teams platform, providing freshmen with an opportunity to strengthen their foundational learning.

The course offered four foundational subjects: English Proficiency Enhancement, Basic Mathematics, Computer Software, and ChatGPT. Tailored to the needs of students from different colleges, the program featured customized course combinations: students from the College of Engineering and the College of Environmental and Resource Sciences took English Proficiency Enhancement, Basic Mathematics, and ChatGPT; while students from the College of Management and Design studied English Proficiency Enhancement, Computer Software, and ChatGPT. This year, a total of 179 students registered to participate. Considering that some students were unable to attend due to prior work commitments over the summer, the university recorded the full course sessions and provided cloud links for students to view the content later, ensuring access to learning resources.

This program has helped freshman gain a clearer understanding of their academic subjects and laid a solid academic foundation. In the future, we will continue to enhance online learning resources to meet the diverse needs of students and promote learning equity.

The successful implementation of the "Enhanced First Mile Foundation Program" once again demonstrates the university's commitment to supporting students' academic success. Looking ahead, we will continue to strive to create a better learning environment and provide more comprehensive support for our students.
