Ming Chi University of Technology has won the Gold Award in the Sustainability Report category for two consecutive years, organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE). This year, the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) introduced a new category exclusively for universities, establishing the "2024 First Taiwan University Sustainability Award (TUSA)." This recognition highlights the outstanding performance and progress of universities in promoting sustainable development and fulfilling social responsibilities.
Ming Chi University of Technology has received international recognition this year as well. In the latest 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, the university achieved a record-breaking improvement, advancing 63 places from the previous year to rank 1,089 globally. Additionally, in the 2024 THE Impact Rankings, the university performed exceptionally well, ranking between 401–600 globally, securing the top position among all private universities of technology in Taiwan. This demonstrates Ming Chi's dedication to advancing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its commitment to continuous improvement.
President Liu Thu-Hua stated that the university has long been dedicated to promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, Ming Chi University of Technology created its first Campus Sustainability Landscape Map. This lush, green map highlights the campus's rich ecological resources, SDG-related imagery, and the history of Ming Chi's sustainability efforts. It not only raises awareness among faculty and students about the campus's ecological diversity but also provides them with opportunities to actively participate in environmental conservation. This initiative further integrates sustainability into daily life and education.
Ming Chi University of Technology's Director of General Affairs, Meng Kuei, attended the TUSA Awards Ceremony held in mid-November on behalf of the university. During the event, he highlighted the university's commitment to ecological conservation, which began in 2019 with the publication of ecological reports. These efforts include digitized documentation of campus biodiversity, demonstrating a hands-on approach to preserving natural resources and protecting biological diversity. Species such as squirrels, Taiwan blue magpies, egrets, masked palm civets (paguma larvata), and black-crowned night herons are frequently spotted on campus.
Furthermore, Ming Chi University will continue to promote initiatives like green campus development, plastic reduction policies, energy conservation, and carbon emission reduction. These efforts aim to create an eco-friendly campus and foster a sustainable environment.
