The "2024 Taishan Prayers Drum Celebration Temple Square Music Festival," hosted by Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT), took place on October 12 at the historic Ding Taishan Temple in New Taipei City, which is celebrating its 270th anniversary this year. Ming Chi University, in collaboration with Nanya Technology Corporation, invited local performance groups to join the celebration. This event not only served as a drum art festival but also incorporated cultural traditions and innovative expressions, connecting local arts and culture while spotlighting Taishan's unique charm.

MCUT President Liu Zu-Hua remarked during the opening speech that the event commemorated the temple's 270th anniversary. He highlighted the collaboration between MCUT’s Drum Art and Culture Club and the Ding Taishan Temple Drum Art Troupe, emphasizing the value of intergenerational learning. Through preparing performances and coordinating formations, students worked closely with experienced elders, enhancing their drumming skills and appreciating the art’s cultural heritage.

Chairman Li Chiu-Yi of Ding Taishan Temple expressed gratitude to MCUT for its ongoing efforts to promote local arts and culture. He noted that the Taishan Drum Celebration Music Festival has now entered its third year and hoped for more artistic and musical collaborations that would further enrich the region’s cultural vibrancy.

Nanya Technology Corporation’s Manager Zhang Ji-Zhu emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering community relations through talent cultivation, environmental conservation, and cultural engagement. Supporting this festival aligns with Nanya's philosophy of giving back to society and enhancing local well-being. Zhang highlighted how drumming and music performances could deepen community connections while showcasing Taishan’s cultural legacy.

The festival began with a collaborative performance by the renowned "Ding Taishan Temple Drum Art Troupe" and MCUT's multi-ethnic "Drum Art and Culture Club." They broke traditional boundaries by bringing the performance into the audience, offering an immersive drumming experience for attendees of all ages. Subsequent acts included dynamic performances by "Feng Drum Arts," "Barbieville Dance Group," and "Wu Ji Line Arts," each showcasing diverse drumming styles and engaging with the audience in lively interactions. The event filled the temple square with youthful energy and excitement, providing a memorable evening for everyone.
