Parent-Teacher Forum Welcomes Freshmen: MCUT Emphasizes Holistic Education and Social Responsibility

update date : 2025-04-07

Amidst the trend of declining birth rate, universities in Taiwan are facing challenges in student recruitment. However, Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) has once again achieved full enrollment this year, with admission scores higher than in previous years. This reflects the university's continuous recognition from both students and parents. To welcome this new cohort of promising freshmen, the university held a Parent-Teacher Forum on September 1st. President Liu Tsu-Hua and Vice President Ma Cheng-Min personally attended the event to warmly greet the new students.

At the forum, not only did students participate enthusiastically, but parents also responded positively, which demonstrates MCUT's high level of trust among parents and further highlights the positive impact of the university's long-standing educational achievements. In addition to its excellent teaching outcomes and practical experience, MCUT places great emphasis on the holistic development of every student. The university strives to achieve a balanced approach, focusing on both professional skills and personal character, so that students can grow into responsible citizens who make positive contributions to society.

To help new students quickly adapt to university life, MCUT organized a four-day "Freshman Orientation Camp." The program aimed to ease freshmen into the "MCUT College" community through relaxed and enjoyable activities. Throughout these four days, students took part in a range of engaging events, including the traditional creativity competition of alma mater, campus tours, and a special visit to the Formosa Plastics Group Museum. These activities not only promoted mutual acquaintance among students but also deepened their understanding of both on-campus and off-campus resources and culture.

During the camp, students shared meals, stayed in the same accommodation, and participated in group activities. These experiences helped them build friendships and develop a sense of teamwork. Through these activities, the university not only familiarized students with the campus environment but also highlighted the founders' enduring dedication to the institution. Students were reminded to value the excellent learning environment they now have access to. Throughout the orientation, the university repeatedly emphasized the importance of making good use of the resources and accomplishments built by previous generations as well as taking on the responsibilities of modern citizenship. Especially in the face of current global challenges, students are encouraged to actively participate in initiatives that promote sustainable development.

In summary, this series of orientation activities not only demonstrated MCUT’s commitment to educational excellence but also played a crucial role in helping freshmen integrate smoothly into campus life, laying a solid foundation for their future learning and personal growth. The university aims for every freshman to acquire professional knowledge and develop a strong sense of social responsibility, equipping them to contribute positively to the future of society.
