Department of Materials Engineering Students Received Humanism Award in 2017 TECO Green Tech International Contest

The TECO Green Tech International Contest, held annually by TECO Technology Foundation, aims at tackling with issues concerning energy and resources depletion, global warming, and sustainable development. Since its launch in 2006, the competition has attracted numerous interdisciplinary teams coming from all over the world, including UCLA, Boston University, University of Tokyo, Waseda University, National University of Singapore, Peking University, and others. This year, around 50 teams from several top universities participated in the competition, and only 20 got through to the finals. Department of Materials Engineering students were excited to reach the final and even won the Humanism Award.

The MCUT team members included: I-Ching Chen (陳怡靜), Kai-Chen Huang (黃楷宸), You-Wen Chen (陳宥文), Wen-Ya Lee (李文雅), and Tzu-Kuan (莊子寬), and their supervisor was Dr. Chien-Kuo Hsieh (謝建國). Those students focused on the topic “Carbon Nanomaterials Apply for Oil Water Separation” and their ideas and results were highly appreciated by the judges.
