Ming Chi University of Technology’s “New Taipei Community International Cultural Exchange and English Literacy Enhancement Program” Receives the 2026 Global Views USR University Social Responsibility Award
Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) has been honored with the 2026 7th Global Views USR (University Social Responsibility) Award, receiving the “Excellence Award” in the Talent Co-learning Category for its “New Taipei Community International Cultural Exchange and English Literacy Enhancement Project.”
This recognition not only highlights the University’s outstanding achievements in educational innovation and social engagement but also demonstrates MCUT’s long-term commitment to integrating academic resources, community development, and international collaboration.
The program is built upon two core strategies: “localizing international education” and “interactive English teaching.” Led by the Office of International Affairs, in collaboration with professional English instructors from the Language Center and partner universities from Taiwan and abroad, the initiative promotes students’ active participation in community-based international cultural exchange and English literacy development.
Key activities include original English gender equality story-sharing, interactive cultural exhibitions led by international students, summer international exchange camps, and large-scale English theatrical performances adapted from Southeast Asian picture books. Through these diverse approaches, the program effectively connects international and local students with communities, fostering cross-cultural understanding and social responsibility.
The program outcomes are closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), demonstrating the University’s concrete contributions to social responsibility.
President Thu-Hua Liu stated, “The cultivation of technological talent goes beyond professional expertise; it also requires compassion and care for society. We are deeply honored to receive the 2026 USR Award.”
MCUT will continue to advance various University Social Responsibility initiatives, encouraging students to actively engage with communities, apply their professional knowledge, deepen their learning, and enhance cross-cultural competencies—fully embodying the University’s commitment as a driver of social responsibility and sustainable development.
