December 20, 2025: Office of International Affairs (OIA) Hosts “Voices in Taiwan—MCUT Overseas Alumni Career Sharing & Alumni Homecoming Event”
To strengthen connections with its overseas alumni and to support current international students in understanding career and life development opportunities in Taiwan, Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) hosted the event “Voices in Taiwan—MCUT Overseas Alumni Career Sharing & Homecoming Gathering” on December 20, 2025, at The Grand Courtyard, a historic building registered by the Taipei City Government Department of Cultural Affairs (formerly the Japanese Navy Guest House and National Taiwan University Public Dormitory). Carefully planned by the Office of International Affairs (OIA), the event invited several overseas alumni who have successfully built their careers in Taiwan to share their professional journeys. The atmosphere was warm, engaging, and filled with meaningful exchanges.
In his opening remarks, Vice President Dr. Cherng-Min Ma affirmed the dedication and achievements of overseas alumni in the Taiwanese workforce and encouraged current international students to proactively explore their career paths and make full use of the University’s academic and employment resources to prepare for their future. Dean of the Office of International Affairs, Dr. Chieh-Lan (Winnie) Li, emphasized that MCUT has long been committed to supporting international students in both academic learning and career transition. She noted that the University will continue to accompany students from their studies through post-graduation career development, serving as a strong pillar of support for overseas students pursuing opportunities in Taiwan.
During the event, MCUT officially announced the establishment of the Ming Chi University of Technology International Alumni Association (MIAA), marking a concrete commitment to the University’s long-term care and support for its overseas graduates. Through the International Alumni Association platform, alumni can remain actively engaged in alumni activities, expand their professional networks, and maintain close ties with their alma mater even after graduation, fostering a cross-national and cross-generational support system.
In the alumni sharing session, overseas graduates from diverse countries and professional backgrounds shared their practical experiences in seeking employment and developing careers in Taiwan. Doan Ngoc Minh Phuong (Mia), an alumnus of the Graduate Institute of Visual Communication Design from Vietnam, discussed key strategies for résumé writing and interview preparation in Taiwan. Sirisombunwej Pornpat (Artio), a Thai alumna of the Master’s Program in International Business Management, shared her journey of language learning and cultural adaptation as she gradually integrated into Taiwanese society. Dastageer Rafiya Nusrath (Rafiya), an alumnus of the Graduate Institute of Electronic Engineering from India, provided in-depth insights into workplace communication styles and work culture in Taiwan. Ida Ayu Kade Pradnyawat (Dayu), an Indonesian alumna of the Master’s Program in International Business Management, also shared her experiences in adjusting to life in Taiwan and achieving work–life balance. The alumni’s sincere and practical insights resonated strongly with attending students, leading to enthusiastic interaction and discussion.
At the conclusion of the event, representatives from the Division of Overseas Student Affairs, Office of International Affairs (OIA) introduced relevant regulations and the points-based system for overseas graduates seeking employment in Taiwan. This session helped students better understand policy requirements and application procedures while complementing the alumni’s real-world experiences, making career development in Taiwan a concrete and achievable option. Moving forward, MCUT will continue to strengthen alumni connections and expand career support initiatives, working hand in hand with international alumni to create a more inclusive and competitive learning and development environment. Through these efforts, MCUT remains committed to supporting international students and alumni as they move forward with confidence, positioning the University as a steadfast foundation for global talent pursuing careers in Taiwan.
