update date : 2025-10-22

Under the global wave of sustainability and the trend of corporate ESG transformation, how universities can leverage their professional expertise to promote shared prosperity with local industries has become a key issue in the implementation of University Social Responsibility (USR).

Ming Chi University of Technology’s Deep-Rooted USR Project, titled “New Taipei Industry ESG Practices: Greener and Better”, was showcased at the 2025 USR EXPO – National University Social Responsibility Exhibition, held on September 12–13 at Booth C-29 in the Taipei Expo Park – Expo Dome. The exhibition highlighted the university’s fruitful achievements in promoting industrial sustainability and fostering mutual prosperity within the local community.

The event officially opened on the morning of September 12, with President Liu Tsu-Hua of Ming Chi University of Technology attending in person, along with Dean of Student Affairs and Project Lead Kuo Yi-Yo, Deputy Dean Chen Chin-Lung, and faculty team members Gao Chin-Han and Chen Kuen-Tai, demonstrating the university’s strong commitment to USR.

The exhibition booth was themed “Greener and Better”, centered around the core concept of “industrial collaboration and economic sustainability.” It featured elements such as green and sustainable design, student-local enterprise collaboration cases, campus sustainability initiatives, and ESG transformation practices, illustrating how universities can lead the way in local sustainable development. Interactive displays and voting activities were also held, inviting visitors to reflect on how industry and sustainability can move forward together and experience the real impact of the USR project.

During the exhibition, team members actively engaged with visitors, introducing the project’s core ideas and sharing co-created green initiatives developed in partnership with local businesses. This helped attendees understand how universities can support industrial transformation through knowledge and innovation. The enthusiasm and insightful questions from visitors extended the influence of the “Greener and Better” philosophy, showcasing the tangible impact of USR efforts.

The project lead emphasized that the exhibition was not only a showcase of results, but also an exchange of ideas:

“Through collaboration with enterprises and local communities, we aim to build a sustainable value chain and make Ming Chi’s professional expertise a driving force for regional transformation.”

The team underscored that although the exhibition had come to an end, the practice of “Greener and Better” will continue to deepen. Going forward, the university will pursue a holistic approach that integrates education, research, and action to connect industry, community, and students, driving New Taipei toward a green, prosperous, and sustainable future.

The successful conclusion of the 2025 USR EXPO not only affirmed the efforts of the Ming Chi USR team but also reaffirmed the university’s role and responsibility as a key enabler of local sustainable development. In the future, the “New Taipei Industry ESG Practices: Greener and Better” project will continue to strengthen its ties with local industries through action-based collaboration, creating more opportunities for sustainable co-prosperity.
