The 2025 Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Yung-Ching Wang Run, now in its 16th year, was held on September 28 at the plaza in front of the Presidential Office Building, attracting nearly 16,000 sports enthusiasts from across Taiwan. This year’s event not only promoted healthy living and environmental sustainability, but also brought together the strengths of community, medical institutions, and educational organizations, creating a nationwide celebration. Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) organized over 130 volunteers for the event. From maintaining order and assisting at supply stations to guiding runners and supporting administrative tasks, the volunteers gave their all, serving as an indispensable backbone of the run.

To ensure smooth operations, MCUT volunteers actively participated in pre-race planning meetings and briefing sessions to familiarize themselves with their responsibilities. On the day of the event, they arrived before dawn, reporting to their assigned service points in uniforms bearing the MCUT logo. With warm smiles, they greeted runners, distributed water and supplies, provided timely assistance, and ensured participants could fully enjoy the thrill of running. Along the course, they continuously cheered and encouraged runners, spreading positive energy throughout the event.

This year’s Yung-Ching Wang Run combined the expertise of medical professionals with widespread societal support, focusing on the theme of “Preventing Sarcopenia.” The event aimed to encourage the public to adopt regular exercise habits and emphasize the importance of maintaining and improving muscle strength. Embodying the spirit of service learning, MCUT volunteers demonstrated social responsibility through hands-on participation, extending classroom knowledge into meaningful community service and fulfilling the university’s University Social Responsibility (USR) mission. Many students shared that participating as volunteers not only taught them teamwork and adaptability, but also helped them understand the positive impact of volunteerism on society.

The activity also aligns with MCUT’s long-standing “Volunteer Day in Memory of the Founder” initiative, which encourages students to engage in various forms of community service and large-scale volunteer programs, fostering organizational, leadership, and communication skills. The mobilization of over 130 volunteers for the Yung-Ching Wang Run showcased the enthusiasm, unity, and dedication of MCUT faculty and students, highlighting the university’s youth as vibrant and service-minded individuals.

As the event concluded successfully, the MCUT volunteers undoubtedly became one of the brightest highlights of the day. Moving forward, the university will continue to promote diverse volunteer service initiatives, nurturing students who not only possess professional expertise but also a spirit of social care and civic engagement, becoming a driving force for positive social progress.
