Strengthening Taiwan–Thailand Research Collaboration: MCUT and KMUTT Partner to Cultivate Global Tech Talents

update date : 2025-09-23

To enhance international research exchange and strengthen practical training, Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) continues to expand its deep collaboration with overseas partner institutions. This year, MCUT once again joins hands with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Thailand to promote the Research Internship Program, further deepening bilateral academic ties and cultivating technology professionals with global vision.

Since the 2019 academic year, MCUT and KMUTT have launched research internship cooperation, with 11 Thai students visiting MCUT for hands-on research training, laying a solid foundation for long-term partnership. Despite the challenges of the global pandemic, academic exchange between the two institutions never ceased. In 2023, in-person cooperation resumed with 18 students undertaking a two-month research internship across MCUT’s five major research centers, achieving fruitful outcomes.

Building on this solid cooperation model, in 2025 MCUT welcomed eight outstanding KMUTT students to participate in specialized research projects at the Battery Research Center of Green Energy and the Plasma Thin Film Technology Center. This year’s collaboration also included the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP) supported by the Ministry of Education, through which one KMUTT Master’s student joined MCUT’s Department of Chemical Engineering for a five-month cross-border research project, demonstrating MCUT’s strong capacity to integrate academic, industrial, and policy resources.

The program highlights MCUT’s achievements in international academic collaboration. Each research center carefully designed challenging and industry-relevant topics tailored to students’ expertise. Senior faculty members provided close mentorship, guiding students in interdisciplinary learning and teamwork. This not only enhanced students’ research competencies but also promoted deeper academic and cultural exchange between Taiwan and Thailand.

During the intensive two-month internship, Thai students not only developed valuable technical skills but also experienced Taiwan’s cultural warmth and educational passion. At the final presentation, KMUTT President Dr. Suvit Saetia, together with senior administrators, attended in person to commend the students’ academic performance and the success of bilateral cooperation. Students presented their research findings fluently in English, demonstrating strong communication skills, innovative thinking, and earning high praise from participating faculty members.

MCUT emphasized that strengthening cooperation with KMUTT not only expands international exchange opportunities for students but also consolidates the university’s brand image in the global education market. By attracting outstanding international students, fostering academia-industry collaboration, and promoting cultural exchange, MCUT is committed to building a diverse, open, and globally competitive learning environment.

Looking ahead, MCUT will continue to expand its network with top international universities, creating research platforms with both practical applications and global impact. The university is dedicated to cultivating innovative talents with global perspectives, injecting fresh momentum into industrial upgrading and sustainable development.
