Competition Description
The 2nd National AI Image Recognition Competition is a national competition, divided into College and University category and High School category.
This competition is co-organized by the International Society of Mechatronic Engineering and Greatest Idea Strategy Co.,Ltd. It not only allows students to get in touch with and understand AI recognition technology, but also to express their creativity to enhance the energy and environment for the future development of AI in Taiwan. The competition for the College and University category is object detection, and it is conducted online. The process requires the use of the software Vis Lab and the specified test data set. The evaluation standard is based on the competition score with a fixed confidence threshold. A total of 70 teams participated in the preliminary rounds, 17 groups were shortlisted, and one gold medal, two silver medals and three bronze medals were awarded in the final round, while the rest of the teams received the excellent work award.

From the finalists to the final round, we spent a lot of time during practical training adjusting hyperparameters and image augmentation. We are grateful to Dr. Chen for spending a lot of time on model optimization and data expansion to give us many directions and suggestions, which enabled us to improve our score significantly. The team's communication and division of labor have allowed us to save time, be flexible and creative in our training, as well as to take advantage of the in-depth learning in the classroom and accumulate practical experience in competition.
