[Rooting for the Future] 2026 New Media Talent Training Summer Camp for Senior High and Vocational High School Students — Reel It Up! Summer Camp
Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT) and Formosa Plastics Corporation jointly organized the “2026 New Media Talent Training Summer Camp for Senior High and Vocational High School Students — Reel It Up! Summer Camp” from August 17 to 20, 2026. Hosted by Formosa Plastics Corporation and co-organized by the Visual Design Laboratory of MCUT’s Bachelor of Science Program in Digital Marketing Design, the four-day program brought together students from various senior high and vocational high schools. Through interdisciplinary learning, field visits, and new media content creation, participants explored industrial practices and sustainability issues while developing their observation, communication, and visual storytelling skills.
The opening ceremony was held on August 17 at the Formosa Auditorium in MCUT’s Innovation Building. Distinguished guests, including the Vice President of MCUT and a Senior Vice President from Formosa Plastics Corporation’s General Management Office, attended the ceremony and encouraged the participants. Icebreaking activities, team assignments, and an introduction to the camp’s objectives helped students build teamwork and establish a shared understanding of their tasks. Participants were also introduced to key topics, including fire safety at the Sixth Naphtha Cracker Complex, agricultural and fisheries support, and environmental sustainability, laying the groundwork for subsequent field reporting and video production.
Throughout the camp, students visited industrial sites and explored a range of real-world issues, including food waste composting and resource circulation, smart fisheries technologies in Taixi, industrial air quality monitoring, and the transformation of agricultural businesses. Through on-site fire safety exercises, they also gained a deeper understanding of workplace safety. Students transformed their observations into creative materials and applied new media storytelling techniques to communicate industrial characteristics and sustainability initiatives. By connecting field exploration with content production, they demonstrated interdisciplinary thinking and collaborative learning.
The closing ceremony and awards presentation took place on August 20, providing students with an opportunity to share their learning experiences and creative achievements from the four-day program. Their presentations demonstrated problem-solving skills, visual storytelling abilities, and adaptability when facing challenges. By bridging academic learning and industrial practice, the summer camp strengthened students’ understanding of new media applications and incorporated sustainability concepts into their learning and creative work. The program fulfilled its goal of nurturing future talent from an early stage while laying a solid foundation for further collaboration between academia and industry.
